Kat Espinosa took her design taste out of the client-services grinder and gave it a name of its own
Kat Espinosa
Designer and founder, Moonfrank
Every founder believes their product is easy to explain, and every founder is wrong by about four paragraphs. Kat Espinosa's whole career lives in that gap. She is a UX and visual identity designer in Manila who takes the complicated thing you built, the platform, the pipeline, the acronym soup, and turns it into visuals a stranger understands before their coffee cools.
For years that skill was rented out the usual way: freelance, client by client, invoice by invoice. The interesting move is what she did next. Instead of climbing into an agency or dissolving into a big tech design org, she bottled the craft under its own name, Moonfrank, with a positioning line so clean it should teach a workshop: web and content design for B2B companies who've outgrown their websites.
The unglamorous, lucrative art of being understood
Consumer design gets the awards. B2B design gets the wire transfers, and it is much harder than it looks. The audience is skeptical, the product is abstract, and the founder's explanation involves at least one diagram drawn from memory. Kat's work, the sites, the decks, the content design, is translation labor: finding the one visual that makes an enterprise buyer nod instead of squint.
The pitch decks are a specialty of their own. A deck is thirty seconds of attention per slide with money on the line, the most brutally honest design brief there is. Her decks have helped startups get funded, which is the kind of portfolio metric you cannot fake with a Dribbble shot.
And because she is a designer who builds rather than a designer who hands off, the thinking goes all the way down: not just how it looks, but what it says, in what order, to whom. Content design as load-bearing wall, not wallpaper.
Craft, packaged on her own terms
There is a quiet blueprint in what Kat did. Plenty of brilliant freelancers stay invisible inside other people's brands forever. She took the craft out of client work and into her own thing, with its own name, its own niche, its own point of view, and 'Fonts & Flowers' energy the whole way through. That is a product move, even when the product is judgment.
If your B2B site still reads like the engineering wiki, or your deck's big slide is a bulleted apology, Moonfrank is the kind of practice you call. And if you are a designer stuck in the invoice loop wondering if there is another way: there is, and it has a name in Manila.
